05/02/2004 Entry: "Boots backpedals, hard."

Geez, wasn't it just last week when it came to light that Boots Bremer said this?

"The new administration seems to be paying no attention to the problem of terrorism. What they will do is stagger along until there's a major incident and then suddenly say, 'Oh, my God, shouldn't we be organized to deal with this?'

"That's too bad. They've been given a window of opportunity with very little terrorism now, and they're not taking advantage of it."

Well, just so you know, he didn't mean it. He actually meant to say it was Clinton's fault.

In a statement Sunday, Bremer said his remarks three years ago "reflected my frustration" that none of his commission's recommendations had been implemented by Clinton or the new Bush administration.

"Criticism of the new administration, however, was unfair. President Bush had just been sworn into office and could not reasonably be held responsible for the Federal Government's inaction over the preceding 7 months," Bremer's Sunday statement said.

So basically, he's saying that in his opinion neither Bush nor Clinton did anything (which is a LIE), but while he can blame Clinton for not doing anything, he can't blame Bush for not doing anything.

Wonder if that cushy viceroy gig in Iraq was hinging on who he blamed.... nah.

Leave him alone! No one in this administration can be accused of political expediency ... sorry, I panicked. I am taking my pills now.

heard on the radio this morning that the Ba'athist general they put in charge of Fallujah, is going to be removed because of his record during the Saddam era.
