Boltin' Joe has
harsh words for Ned Lamont:
"My loyalty to the Democratic Party goes back a lot further than his," Lieberman said Wednesday during a meeting with the editorial board of The News-Times. "Ned Lamont is less about his party than himself and his point of view."
This is the guy who believes he shouldn't have to put up with being challenged in a primary and will run against the party's candidate if he doesn't get his way? And Lamont is the one only concerned for himself? Joe has words for Lamont supporters as well:
"My challenger is backed by a group of very zealous people and they are using me to get at President Bush," Lieberman said. "I know President Bush. I wouldn’t say he’s a friend of mine. and trust me, I am no President Bush."
So people exercising their right to vote--fellow Democrats--are merely zealots. And those crazy folk want to "get at" President Bush...perish the thought that you, as an opposition party member, might do something like that. But best of all is Lieberman's appropriation of Lloyd Bentsen's putdown from the 1988 Vice Presidential debate, since Joe has managed to cast himself in the role of...Dan Quayle. Perfect.
