The Blogroll Wars have begun!

BlogosphereIn case you haven't noticed, Atrios announced that today is the day when he kills his blogroll and starts over with just blogs that he reads.

Not to be outdone, Kos has also announced that he, too, is killing his blogroll and starting over with only blogs that he reads.

How long before snubbed bloggers begin a wave of retaliations, removing Kos and Atrios from their blogrolls, however little that may affect either blog's traffic? When do the B, C, D, E, F and G-List bloggers start making blog-heads roll by purging blogs that have stopped listing other blogs on their blogrolls?

This could get ugly, and fast.

But to prove that we're just a lovable bunch of contrarians here at B3, I'm announcing that we're not going to edit our blogroll - not even a tiny bit. Everyone who's on there will stay on there.

Even Atrios, who cut B3 today. No big. I had a long run on his blogroll, which contributed to the overwhelming success and massive traffic this blog gets every single day. (Snerk.)

(I'm joking. But I'm still not gonna edit the blogroll.)

I've gone through my blogroll about once every six months and kept every active blog that I've linked to, even the ones that don't link back to me.

FWIW, Atrios has never linked to my blog. I don't think he knows I'm alive. Ah, that's his loss [snarky grin]

Atrios? There's a blogger called Atrios? I should have heard of him?

B3 and MF are both on my very short blogroll, and there you both will stay.

Glad you aren't dumping the blog roll here. I use this site as my start page for blogs. I must admit I haven't read them all but most of them.

The blogroll should be an ongoing effort anyhow. Regular maintenance and upgrades are pretty much standard for internets software (in almost any business field). This is one of the reasons they call it work...

Plus, some things you want to upgrade / update as necessary. I've been putting off some maintenance on a number of old Blah3 flashes, as a matter of fact, for some time - until I can find out what Stranger has decided to do about them. Does TBTM have room to keep them? Are they still archived somewhere? Inquiring minds want to know...

Plus, I always thought that you put stuff on your blogroll because you thought you might want to go back there someday, and you put a link somewhere you could find it when you wanted to. When it doesn't work any more, sometimes you get rid of it and / or look to update the links. Am I missing something here? If other bloggers were relying on link love from any other area of the blogosphere, then they need to continually revisit and reaffirm that love. Right? Eschaton is long overdue for a revision. Let's hope it's not the only one we get for the next few years.
blog wars? no big!

I rarely use blogrolls anyway.
I usually come here through Hoffmania's Bloggregator.

I support all those guys and their good work but I definately think they are going through a 'too big for their britches" phase. 'the blogging community' they love to talk about is, I think, much more of a hydra then they realize. I don't really think their blogrolls are as important as they do.

screw em. you write good things people will link to it. others are doing the 'finger in the wind' job they used to do. those guys want to 'play with the big boys' - let 'em. no skin off YOUR nose dude. that ain't what you do. god bless ya.

He cut me off, too - there goes about 25% of my hits! Maybe if I flashed my boobs around DC like some bloggers....
