Wanna see idiocy in full gallop?

John McCainOne of my constant sources of amusement on the web is the site I call Lollipop Land, otherwise known as The Corner. As I scan blog headlines, I often see headlines from that blog that I know are guaranteed to point out the half-spark mental processes of conservatives. Today I saw a headline that read 'I Just Don't Get Some People,' and I had to click on it.

They never, ever disappoint. This post was written by the terminally simple-minded K-Lo, and she was bemoaning the fact that the notable Republican (former Reagan Cabinet Secretary and member of John McCain's campaign to boot!) Charles Fried has endorsed Barack Obama. You can almost feel the self-pity oozing from your screen as K-Lo says:

Does anyone pay any attention to Obama and his veep? This election isn't all about what you think about Sarah Palin, after all.

The Dumbness of that statement is jaw-dropping in its ignorance, the scope of the inherent denial is absolutely panoramic. Of course this election is about what people think of Sarah Palin! The few sane Republicans left walking the planet look at this woman who has risen through the Republican ranks by winking and flirting and flashing a little leg here and there and stabbing her mentors in the back, a woman who lies and then when caught lying continues to lie, this woman who seems to inhabit her own alternate Jeebus-and-his-pet-dinosaur universe, and they are appalled at the very thought of that woman being in the White House as anything other than a tourist.

Naturally, K-Lo does not get it. This election is about the future of this country. It's about Obama's Big Ideas vs. the Wasilla Psychodrama. It's about changing the face of government vs. Joe The Alleged Plumber and Ashley The Race-Baiting College Republican. You'd have to be monumentally, soul-crushingly stupid not to see the wealth of qualification on Obama's side and the blinding contrast to the tawdry, thin-resume, anger-and-revenge-driven team on McCain's side.

Guess which side of that divide K-Lo falls on.
