Way back in 1997, before I became a web designer, before I had a paying gig doing sites - hell, before I knew how to code HTML - I started this site (then called Rant UK, the broken bits of the 1998 version of which can be seen here) on GeoCities.
Alas. Geocities is closing the virtual doors today. Wow. It really has been a long time since I've even looked at that old stuff. What's RelatedStory OptionsA bit of the Old Internet is gone as of today.

Wow, that is very sad news indeed. My online career actually started with geocities, so I feel all the more bad about this move made by Yahoo. A lot of newbies who want to make a living online cannot afford web hosting at the initial point of their career, and Geocities was one of the most unobtrusive free hosting services I have ever seen!
