Out of Sight, Out of Mind.

Say Hi To...Say hello to the crew over at How to Get Rid of Things.

If you're looking for a guide for dealing with those pesky things in your life that you'd like to show the door, here's a humorous and practical look at how to go about it...

Remember when you were a kid, sittin' spread eagle in the lawn, plucking dandelions and blissfully blowing the seeds all over tarnation? You didn't know it, but your old man was watching you from inside at the kitchen table. He was sitting there drinking his coffee, cursing, and secretly hoping you'd inhale just a little too hard, suck in a just a few of them there seeds, send yourself into a coughing fit and learn your lesson the hard way.

Say hello again.

Say Hi To...Madeline Kane is kind of a homegirl - she's somewhere in Queens (I think), I'm on LI. For years, she's offered commentary and devastatingly clever song parodies skewering those who deserve it.

Put it this way - if Mark Russell had a blog instead of a piano and was much more attractive and female, he'd be Mad Kane. Go say hello, again. Tell her B3 sent you, and tell her she's been added to the B3 Preferred List.

Tip from a B3 Reader.

Say Hi To...B3 reader Demeur tried posting this site in comments, but for some reason the IP address was flagged as spam. No idea why.

At any rate, here's what Demeur wanted to post.

I tried to post this link this morning but your spam filter is running in nazi mode. Hope this works it's a post by a fellow blogger monkeyfister found. He's got some great insight into the Iraq situation.

Read down on his thoughts on Iran, really great common sense.

Go say hi to Sweaterman over at Pyglalia.

MF Adds:Pyglalia is a fantastic blog that I am happy to have found in a Technorati search. All the folks there are doing some wonderful stuff, and are well on their way to receiving the 2007 Golden Monkeyfist-- Rodney Dangerfield Award. Thank you, Demeur, for getting the word out. You're a dream.

Say Hi:

Say Hi To...Say "hi" to Michelle Leder over at footnoted.org. Reading financial releases -- like quarterly or annual reports -- is tedious enough. Going through all that and the footnotes is the dream cure for insomnia. Yet Michelle's been doing exactly that, and turning up great nuggets of questionable corporate ethics (is "corporate ethics" an oxymoron?) for all to see.

Not only that, it turns out she's a resident of NY-19 and one of the driving forces behind the Take19 blog.

Go on over, give footnoted.org a read, and tell Michelle that B3 sent you.

[NOTE: Press coverage of their rally yesterday is here.]

Good Luck Everybody…

Say Hi To...…you might need it!

Kevin over at Cryptogon put a post up a yesterday, which captures a number of points I’ve been trying to make over the last few months. I have been meaning to get this one out sooner myself, but hey, better late than never.

In essence, it is all about the slide of the US towards becoming as fascist a regime as is possible and all that at break-neck speed.

Kevin quotes Jeff Wells:
American politics isn't just theatre; it's dinner theatre, on par with a Medieval Times franchise. It can put on a decent show: the way the white and black knights joust you'd think they meant it, and that the guy who falls off his horse really gets hurt and the champion wins something of meaning. Voters are "treated like royalty" - every man a king! - but their crowns are made of tissue paper. And while the menu is all you can eat, all you can order is bullshit.
He himself says:
Let's fast forward a week, a month or a year from today; nobody knows exactly when it will happen... When you could have made it to a better place, with relative ease, you sat by and waited, wished and hoped it wouldn't come to this. And now, the freeways are jammed, the airports are closed and soldiers are checking your "papers." Some number of people are being loaded onto trucks, but you can't really see past the spotlights shining at you from the checkpoint up ahead...
You may still be swayed to argue that this is, after all, the USA and things don’t happen like this in this great country of yours. For starters there is The Constitution, The Supreme Court, Laws, Congress etc. True, only problem is, BushCo don’t give a rat’s arse about any of these things and you know it. Now, I won’t pretend to have detailed knowledge of the domestic political scene over your side, but even from where I sit, certain things are glaringly obviously. And yes, I agree with you on the basic idea that ‘The American’ in general is not a dumb, ignorant person when it comes to politics. But that’s not the point. The point is, that it doesn’t really matter.

As I have pointed out in previous posts:
-The Posse Comitatus Act is pretty much screwed thanks to Public Law 109-364
-Passport Cards and REAL ID are looming large and will be carried by you soon
-In future, clearance may be required from the DHS in order to travel to and from the US
-44,000 people on the no-fly list and growing
-International laws and treaties thrown out the window
-US citizens having the right revoked to re-enter the US, having the right revoked to even fly to the US
-The proposal of finger printing permanent residents (who’s next?)
-Steps are underway to limit the scope of the FOIA
-Halliburton built concentration camps on US soil in case of ‘programs’ requiring the detention of large numbers of people

We don’t even need to point out once more that The President can declare ANYONE an enemy combatant, can have ANYONE tortured, can have ANYONE detained indefinitely without charge etc etc etc

The list goes on and anyone delusional enough to believe that this is all about keeping you safe, about defeating terrorists, about winning a war they themselves have coined ‘The Long War’ - those of you may well be left behind. Just think about how many people made it out of Germany and how many stayed put, thinking, HOPING, that all will be well at the end of day…

ENDGAME anybody?

If you still believe that all is fine and dandy and will continue to be so even after the election, think again:
"It may not be popular with the public — it doesn't matter in the sense that we have to continue the mission and do what we think is right. And that's exactly what we're doing," Cheney said. "We're not running for office. We're doing what we think is right."
Indeed, voter sentiment will not influence Bush's Iraq policy.

For yours sake, I desperately wish that I’m wrong and I hope that whatever happens today, it will turn out to be better than what you have right now – somehow though I’m not convinced…

Take care everybody!
