04/30/2004 Entry: "Should we start a pool here?"

Which country is next?

The Ministry of Defence has launched an investigation into allegations that British soldiers have been pictured torturing an Iraqi prisoner.

The photographs, obtained by the Daily Mirror newspaper, show a suspected thief being beaten and urinated on.

The UK's most senior soldier, General Sir Mike Jackson, said if guilty, the men were not fit to wear the uniform.

Earlier, the UK Government said it was "appalled" by pictures of Iraqi prisoners being abused by US troops.

Tony Blair's official spokesman said the way naked prisoners were tormented by troops directly contravened all the US-led coalition's policy.

just goes to show, when people volunteer kill for their country, you are going to end up with a lot of bad apples. the military should do more stringent psych evaluations. after all, they are requiring high school diplomas now, and they drug test them, and give them physicals, if they are going to be that picky, is it too much to ask that they also not be sociopaths, rapists and other types of degenerates?

"Against policy." What a removed way to say "disgraceful and illegal".

I wish that the "contractors" could be given to the World court for war crimes.

My guess is the next country committing these types of atrocities will be Iraq - committing them on American and British troops (or even contractors, Heaven forbid!) with no shortage of photos for the US citizenry to be morally outraged at.
